This is going to be a fun show!
Long time no post! Well, the Night Magic show had a good run but its been put out to pasture. But you can rejoice for the Stage Fright magic show is going to be up and running in October. It's at the Alaska Academy for the Fine arts at 12340 Old Glenn Hwy, Eagle River, AK 99577 (907) 694-8909 Admission is $20. It will be performed on the 22nd, 23rd, 24th and the 29th and 30th of October. Each show will start at 7pm, with a possibility of more show times if we sell enough tickets. We will also have a merchant booth during intermission selling magic kits, t-shirts and of course my Visual Encyclopedia of Contact Juggling.
I will be performing with my partner in crime, Richard Kennedy who was the other half of our duo in the Night Magic show. Unlike most of our shows to date this show will feature a lot of large illusions. The whole production with run more like a play than an average magic show. This is very Halloween! We will be in character with our two lovely assistants Kiara and Ashley. There will be costumes, evil experiments, death defying feats (well not really), vanishes, productions, and mind and head twisting illusions. This show is family friendly, but the show is not going to be just for kids the adults will enjoy it too.
So come one, come all to the finest Halloween magic show in town!
Hey, we did another show on november 23rd. Turn out was a little sparse due to the road conditions being horrendous (Alaska+freezing rain=car accidents) but we had a great show anyway. We had a guest magician Miguel Najara, who did some excellent comedy magic. I wasn't able to do my carefully crafted card routine due to some technical difficulties with the projector that we have been using so everyone in the audience could see, so I cobbled together a whole stand up routine in about two hours.
My routine went off well and was well recieved, though I fumbled a bit on one routine that I hadn't performed in six months. But everyone that came had a great time and we got a lot of applause so we must have done something right.
We're taking a break from the night magic show in December, but we'll definately be on in January! We're continually improving and updating the show, and the next show's going to be even better than before. We're also looking at other venues to perform in so we'll eventually be doing the show multiple times a month, possibly every week. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
I hope everyone is having a happy holiday season.
The opening performance of Night Magic went swimmingly. Although our 6pm show didn't sell as much as we'd hoped, the 7:30pm show was sold out, and somehow a little oversold as we ended up having to put up extra chairs for audience members. There were some snafus in the kitchen which we couldn't control, but the show itself went very well, and got some very good reviews from people who attended.
My final card trick that was performed blindfoled got gasps from the audience, and my friend Richard performed an impossible prediction that left the audience stunned.
We're now in discussions with another site to put on another Night Magic show event. Hopefully we can continue this on a regular basis. I'll keep everyone informed when the next show is set.
